FRONT WINDSCREEN WIPER BLADES

I love fitting new wiper blades, one of lifes little but great moments. :)

For the price of a couple of packets of cigarettes, extra, i will get the original BMW. 8)

I tried some Aerotwin blades, they stand high look ugly. Why is the arm attachment so bulky.
Had to go back to coat hanger type.

What of replacement blades, anyone ever found quality replacement.
Seen a few on ebay.
Shame to throw out good metal parts.

Something worth doing, but i keep forgetting, after washing car with shampoo, clean windscreen with glass cleaner, then use Rain X.
Very good, lasts about 3 weeks then needs reapplying.

I know my replacement windshield, although BMW stamped, do get fogging on blade sweep, but not if Rain Xed.
In light no need to use wipers

I just bought a new set of genuine BMW E89 wipers from the dealer (same part number as mentioned earlier in this thread).
Here's the details for those who care:
They are different sizes. I think 21" driver's side & 20" passenger. They are made by Valeo. (Found a logo on the rubber blade - though nothing showing on the old ones)

I ordered a 20 inch twin pack £45. Not many places sell the Bosch Icon, but seem to have good reviews.
Think i read some cars being quoted both 20 and 20/21.
I have a feeling i tried two 20 in the past and there was a problem.
About re find out what it was.
Not sure if the 21 slight longer up the screen to cover better.
Is the arm in the centre.

Also i found the blade type Aerotwin juddered....reason why i went back to coat hanger type.

Flying in the opposite direction to most - after my coathanger wipers froze to the screen & ripped off a nice little line of rubber last week in the awesome weather we have been having, I replaced with the bosch aerotwin that everyone dislikes.

20" on the passenger side, 22" on the driver.

I prefer how they look (accept the mount is a bit chunky) & have always thought they did a better job at the business side - ie 'wiping the screen'.

For me, nothing says 1940's like a coathanger style wiper blade.

Less streaky, last well, prefer the look. £25 all in at halfords.

I’m in that camp. Valeo Aeros and they are great. And I don’t need to see out of that final 3” on the near side tbh.

But, as always, each to their own. This would be boring if we all wanted the same thing.

I bought a Bosch Aerotwin 28 for the Berlingo today.
It seemed a different design to the ones i bought some time ago for the Zed.
Have they changed the design last few years, just looked less bulky at the arm attachment.
And blade housing had a symmetrical look about it.
Local The Range sells them about £16 each.
Local Halfords, Dudley Merry Hill, has closed down :o

Not sure they have changed much in recent times - the connector does stand out as being quite chunky.

Visually that's the least attractive part of the aerotwins I reckon.

But overall I prefer the look, and I like the feeling that there has been some effort put in to make the performance better. Plus it just looks more... 'modern'.

Fitted the Bosch Icons, took about 20 seconds each to fit, no messing with adapters.
Both 20 inch, the 21 drivers side i had fitted seemed a bit long.
The housing is a bit chunky, but no taller than coat hanger type.
But they have asymmetric offset spoiler, i think made for lhd cars.
