Front wheel rubbing :(

My next move would be a cheapo part worn 215 40 tyre on the worse side & see what occurs or return your springs to M spec

Think I might just get the alignment done and see how that affects it. The camber on the front seems to be way off. Even if I end up going back to the 108s they should have been realigned when the front suspension was changed. Probably cheaper than a replacement tyre too.

Not really much choice swapping the suspension back - I dont have the originals and the previous owner swapped it out because one of the OEM springs snapped. The Eibach pro kit has a decent enough reputation I thought?

The eibachs aren't the problem. The problem is the wide and wrong offset alloys.

Nevertheless, when lowering cars, it's pretty essential to get a wheel alignment done afterwards as you do alter the geometry when messing about fitting them. I had mine done and the alignment was way out until they sorted it.

Daft question - if I get the alignment done with the current wheels and then change back to the 108s, will I need to get the alignment redone?

Firstly, if you lower your car by any amount, that one point on the arch will rub, not matter how 'perfect' the offset.

Ive seen countless Z with a variety of wheels lowered on different springs or coilovers and the result is always the same.

Just tuck what remaining liner you have behind e bumper lip and carry on.

IS and ET are the same thing (both abbreviations of Einpresstiefe)

You can take the wheel off and measure it yourself, offset = half rim width minus backspace

You need to measure the wheel width, not just use the 'J' measurement.
Measure from the back edge of the wheel to the mounting face and this gives the backspace.

No !
Perfect. Having the alignment done this afternoon hopefully!

Ill report back

Looks like a lot of Z4's with lowered Eibach's tend to rub, some even with standard wheels. It seems camber or ET is the answer.
I have 19" 265 & 235's fitted with no rubbing

Popped out to the wheel alignment place at lunchtime and they say that the lower suspension arm bushes are knackered.

Need to get it booked into a garage and sorted. Fed up with it now :(

Is he talking about the front wishbone rear bush? If so, they're commonly known as lollypops and I had mine Polybushed, along with the rear traiking arm bushes and a wheel alignment done for Just under £300.

Probably could have got it done cheaper, but I wasn't interested in doing the job myself or shopping around.

Yeah, I think so. I'm just getting on to my local BMW indie to sort it.

Are the pollybushes worth the extra money?

I can't say for sure, but it seems to turn in well and polybushes don't degrade like the standard ones do, which is a benefit. The ride can become a little harsher though.
