Front Wheel Bearings?

Can anyone offer any help with this. I have a whine coming from the front wheel, the noise is not connected to engine noise\revs, I suspect that I have a worn wheel bearing. Is this a straight forward DIY job or does it involve specialist (BMW) tools! I am about to change rear springs which looks straight forward, but wheel bearing could be the job from hell!!

Any advice much appreciated.

PS The car is 2004 Z4 2.5 (In sexy Sapphire black!!)

Apologies if this is posted in the wrong section

I used to have the same problem till I changed my wheels. Other than the aesthetics - the other difference between the wheels is that the old wheel is not hub centric.

Would a front wheel bearing not be more noticeable whilst driving in a bend? I had one go on my old golf and I started to notice it when making right hand turns/bends
