Front wheel alignment?

I can see a bit of feathering on one of my front tyres (front right). Do these cars tend to fall out of alignment frequently? I'll take the car for a full setup in a few weeks, but was just wondering...

Also, is there any adjustment at the rear, or should I not bother paying for a 4 wheel alignment?

Thanks.

All the tyres I have seen off these wear on the insides nicely. The tyres on mine had done when I got it, the wheels I bought with tyres had done badly as well, and my new tyres have started to wear that stepped feathered edge on the inside too.

I think it's just characteristic wear.

Its how the cars are setup i believe, entirely normal. The mobile guy who does my tyres used to work as a BMW tyre fitter and he also said its 100% normal.

I'd get a 4-wheel alignment if you decide you need one (rather than a 2-wheel); I had trouble with mine pulling to the left when I bought it and it was the thrust line (ie rear axle) they had to correct.

However I'd look elsewhere than BMW - they wanted approx £250 at my local BMW dealership (JCT600 BMW) whereas a nearby independent has the proper optiflex kit and set it up beautifully for £65.

I'll be honest, I'm not completely happy with the handling either (I don't mean the wooden feel of the runflats). My TVR was so much slicker through any type of curve, I know the std Z4 doesn't compare exactly but I thought it would handle OK when pushing on. Perhaps I just need a trackday to get used to it...
