Front top mount - movement video

Hi all,
A while ago I replaced my front top mounts on my E86 with Febi Bilstein parts.
Recently I changed springs and found play in the bearing. Even when the top damper nut is correctly torque. These mounts have about 500 miles on them. Both have similar play.

Is this amount of play right? It doesn't seem it to me. They're quiet and rotate freely but this seems odd.
Cheers.

I've had this. The shock won't always be perfectly perpendicular to the top mount. As the suspension moves up and down the shock pivots from the top so it needs to be seated in a spherical bearing rather than a fixed (ie ball or taper) one to allow that movement. As long as there's no lateral movement in the shock stem then all will be good.

Ah, thanks, yes that makes sense.
Macpherson strut works through an arc so it's a spherical bearing to take up the alignment.
One less thing to worry about.
Thanks.
