Front Top Mount Change

Hi All

I'm planning on following the excellent guide below by Pawn Sacrifice to lower my Z4 this weekend.

http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=27124&p=374517&hilit=spring+fitting#p374517

I'd read elsewhere that it's advisable to change the front Top Mounts at the same time so have bought a pair.

Does anyone have any advice/hints/guides for this additional procedure anywhere as I'm great at following instructions - not so good taking guesses!

Thanks

Loosen off the top mount nuts whilst the suspension is still on the car and has the weight on it, but don't back the nut off completely or the strut will just drop to the floor when you jack the car up.

Other than that so long as you have a set of spring compressors, everything else is fairly straight forward.

Bearings should be pre-greased so you shouldn't need to do anything. Yes the mount bolts to the top of the damper. Will need spring compressors though as otherwise your likely to do some damage to yourself, or anything within a 20ft vacinity once the spring fires off. There are means of doing it without, but they are only about £20 or so from Halfords.

Thanks again,

I already sorted spring compressors, axle stands, chocks, scissor jack, low profile trolley jack etc.

I've also gone for the e46 heavy duty rear spring pad with the hope of preventing a 'saggy bottom'!

Think I'm ready for this now. Will take some before/after shots.

Cheers!
