Just to help clear things up a bit.
A 225/30 tyre will have a lower profile than a 245/30 tyre. The "30" stands for the height of the sidewall as a percentage of the width of the tread. Therefore a 225/30 tyre will have a sidewall height of 30% of 225mm which equals 67.5mm, a 245/30 tyre will have a height of 30% of 245mm which equals 73.5mm. For that reason the 245 tyre will not only be wider but will give you a slightly greater ground clearance due to the increased height of the sidewall.
The sizes I used were just as an example by the way, I couldn't remember the tyres in question at the start of the thread but of course the same principle is applicable to any tyre size.
