On the 'Murican forum, a member wrote 5 years ago he installed these AKG aluminium bushings on his E89. However, AKG don't list the E89 as intended model.

Has anybody installed that specifically bushing?

Has anybody replaced the OEM rubber bushings with metal bushings? Suggestions?

Thanks,

Marc

I used this one which is functionally equivalent…

I imagine you'll get some vibration both physically and audible with those no..? I'm sure they'll do the job however.

We’ll see..I noticed that on my 20i with the same M3 linkages but missing this bearing, things were OK until I retrofitted stock 18” alloys fitted with OE runflats ..then I did notice quite a bit of V and H of NVH came with that combo..

Having changed so many things (again) in one go it’s going to be difficult to identify each parts contribution to both NVH and handling / ride …

My indy too installed the monoballs, camber plates, springs and tyres at once. So it’s practically impossible to know which is the culprit. Definitely loads of V. H too, but because the H&R sports springs are a bad fit with the stock shocks. Hopefully the new KW will alleviate some of that. But it’s fair to assume some H will be there. I haven’t noticed N, but me hearing isn’t all that anymore.

In the connection between you and the road you're replacing a soft rubbery thing with a hard metal thing. In theory, you would therefore expect less give. Better for handling, worse for comfort.

Maybe with top quality non run flat rubber any H can be dialled down with the adjustable shocks to pretty much stock levels, V N will be what they will be as you say, I'd doubt you'll get away without any V at least but that's the price you pay for the upgrade isn't it. Watching this with interest.

I’ll report back after I’ve had a chance to try a number of different road surfaces / speed profiles etc…

I wonder if the Royal steering wheel mod moderates / affects the vibration through the hands..

On motorbikes, slightly different, they put big damper weights on the ends of the handlebars to dampen that vibration…. :tumbleweed:
