Front suspension and not rear?

After my 35iS was recovered to the AD when the coolant pump failed, it came out with a 50-point-plus report & video as usual. Equally as usual, the adaptive suspension is "leaking". Actually, 'weeping' or 'a bit damp' are more accurate, because that's what all the shocks have done most of the car's life. As noted elsewhere, 6 have been replaced under warranty so far.

Replacement of the front adaptive pair is £2,214.50p and the now-limited warranty doesn't cover this. So, the question(s), please:
1 Is it possible to replace only the front pair with 'normal' shocks and leave the un-leaking rear adaptives in place?
2 Which are the best 'normal' shocks to use on this car?

If you only changed 2, I can see the electronics having a fit & throwing lots of warnings on the dash (plus of course who knows what impact it will have dynamically).

Normally when changing out the adaptive shocks there is a small control unit that needs unplugging under the bonnet, then a bit of coding to stop the ECU trying to talk to the control unit under the bonnet.

I don't see how there could be a 'half way house' option.

Other than saving some money, feels like a terrible idea.

Might it be worth using the german place (search for recent thread where this is discussed) & getting them rebuilt? £1500 gets all 4 corners refeshed with new internals / seals motors etc.
