Front plate & holder removal ?

Just took the front plate off to check out how many holes will be left as i am planning on having a private reg on cut down plate with it only having only 5 digits.

However nothing is ever simple, so the question is what do you remove the black holder with, looks like a triangular type of fitting when you look at the screw heads ? do they pop out or is there a tool for the job ?

Mine was the same, riveted on. It is an easy job but can be awkward to remove as the rivets tend to spin around when you drill them out, just have to be patient. Removed mine and it does look better for it.
 
how come mine was screwed
left me a 4 holes and dent of where holder was probably 40%
but i just drive with it
so ugly
