Front parking sensors

Newbie.
I pulled into the supermarket yesterday and had no bleep from front sensors when very near some bushes.
But on leaving when i put it in reverse the bleeper was on.
Any ideas thanks

Fronts aren't normally on all the time, rears activate when put in reverse with also switches on the front the front then turn off when a certain speed is reached,

That's correct. You can also press the parking sensor switch which will switch them on. I do that if going forward into somewhere

Thankyou.
I thought that switch just switched them off.
And asumed they would be on from start up.
So rears come on from start up but not fronts.
If you want fronts you press the switch ??

When the car goes into reverse it will switch both front and rear on, as you may need both to park , they will automatically switch off when a certain speed is reached going forward as it thinks you can't be parking anymore.
So if your about to park by driving straight into a space then you'd press the button

Thats strange.so if i drive up to a wall the front sensors wont work unless i check by putting in reverse. :?
If it didn't work like that, the sensors would activate whenever you came up behind another car, such as at traffic lights or a junction.
