Front number plate location

99% sure the front plate is legal now.... well the text and spacing is couldn't find anything regarding the actual size of the plate. It's only 30mm bigger than the other one I had on plus I've ditched the logo and border. Good shout ben g

Does it meet all of these criteria?

- Characters must be 79mm tall
- Characters (except the number 1 or letter I) must be 50mm wide
- The character stroke (the thickness of the black print) must be 14mm
- The space between characters must be 11mm
- The space between the age identifier and the random letters must be 33mm
- The margins at the top, bottom and side of the plate must be 11mm
- Vertical space between the age identifier and the random numbers must be 19mm

If not, then it's still illegal and you can be fined up to £1,000 plus the plate can be permanently withdrawn. It looks like it meets these spacings but the font is wrong on the front which is why it looks slightly odd. Therefore, I'm 99% sure it's still illegal.

It's your front 6 and S that give it away.

I think the most they will do is give you 7 days to correct it. They should have far more important things to concentrate on in todays society.
Only one way to find out!

The font, letter spacings and sizes are all legal. All I've done is cut the ends off a standard plate. Not sure how the 6 and S look wrong to be honest and all I could find online about the actually size of the number plate was an industry standard which isn't referred to on the DVLA leaflet for number plates.

That looks fine to me.
There's no min plate size just the border size. Less digits = smaller plate

Can't read it but so long as you have the manufacturer postcode and BS number (latter usually quite faint on bottom right corner) you'll be good.

Mine on 3 concurrent cars and daughters with 5 digits and smaller than yours have been like that from many years. Mine also all read on ANPR in car parks which is convenient.

Looking forward to testing it in a car park with ANPR can't see why it wouldn't work.

I had one of those smallest plates you can get on my last E46 looked brilliant and no ANPR or carpark cameras pick it up not that was my intention. I only found out when I couldn't pay for tickets my car could never be found on the recognigtion car park ticketing system when leaving. Ive had a new set of plates made for my Z4 as I love them 3D gel raised ones had them for years. So I had legal size lettering but on the smallest plate that fits All legal as long as the numbers are certain height and you have CE mark with printers detail on their. Will get some pics up once I respray my front bumper

Strange as that's not my experience having 3 cars currently on the drive with 5 digit plates of the minimum 100% legal spec and border width, etc.

All car parks pick them up, albeit some machines take a few seconds longer that I'd like. Use them on pre-booked airport, local NCP, etc.

Mine always gets picked up too. Always manages to respace it to the correct layout when it's prints it too!
