Front hub bolts?

Sorry, a bit of a newbie question - I suspect that the answer is out there but I'm just searching for the wrong terms. I'm looking to refresh the suspension on my E85, and one thing that I was advised was to replace the front hub bolts, as they were likely to be seized and take a bit of a battering coming out. Can anyone point me to the particular bolt on a diagram please? Reason for asking, is so that a) I can buy new ones in advance, but also b) so I can spend a couple of weeks giving the existing ones a good dousing in Liqui Moly Schnell-Rostlöser to give them the best chance of coming out cleanly.

Ta,

Give the old ones a damn good soaking in plusgas or similar

Go gently

Tighten first then loosen

They usually snap when half way out so clean the visible threads up as much as you can and when in doubt I use heat (while being mindful of the pressurised gas strut!!!)

Yup - I'll go gently. I've got a track record of restoring ancient Italian bikes, so crusty fasteners (and dubious electrics...) are familiar, if not enjoyable territory for me. Heat is normally a good part of the answer, and as the current shocks have been on there for 22 years I'd be reasonably surprised if there's much pressure in there anyway :) But it's a good point to be aware of, thanks. And if you've not tried the Liqui Moly stuff [1], I'd heartily recommend it - I've tried all sorts over the years, including the old 50/50 ATF and acetone mix, and this seems to be the most reliable so far.

Sage advice. I was really surprised how good plusgas is in comparison to wd40- but will take a look at this

👍🏻👍🏻
