Front Grill mountings

Hi all. A dog jumped out of a parked cars boot today right in my path. Was unavoidable. Luckily dog walked away, however my poor Z has damage. Does anyone know if the fixing points for the kidney grilles are part of the bumper..? The grill popped out, and some of the mounting point has broken off (see pic) also has crack in the bumper between the 2 grilles, paint is all crazed on bumper. Also bumper no longer sits flush to bonnet. (I'm thinking new bumper is required) so depending on costs may go down insurance route as have protected Ncb... Also anyone know what a new bumper costs..? (06 Z4 Sport)

Many thanks.

Louise.

Sorry to hear about the accident

Heres a link to realoem Louise, hopefully I am wrong but it looks like the clips are part of the bumper, no doubt someone else might be able to advise you for sure.

Many thanks. Yes does look that way!! Is the price on that website at all accurate? (As in if converted to £, would that be the cost to buy?)

The clips are part of the bumper

If the bumper is repairable maybe you could use tiger adhesive to stick the grills back in place?

You might be better looking on eBay for a new/used bumper, might save you money in the long run!

Thankfully I've managed to track owner down via vets (happened just outside vets). Dog isn't insured (shame as could have claimed from pet insurance for damages apparently). The dog owner is going to arrange to meet me with a friend of hers in the motor trade to assess damage.

However I won't want a Micky mouse repair, as its a low mileage car in fantastic condition otherwise.

I repaired mine when I refurbed my M Bumper.
A proper repair would need you to remove the bumper.
If you are lucky you might be able to locate the broken bits inside.
That would make the repair a heck of a lot easier, as all you would have to do is glue the bits back in place and then reinforce the assembly from behind.

As an alternative you might get creative and use some of that self adhesive velcro material you can buy in any fabric store.

If you have neither the time or the skill to do the repair yourself, I'm with srhutch.

ps ..Be very afraid of a "friend in the motor trade". I would get an estimate from a reliable shop or even a BMW Dealer first ! You might be surprised at how expensive a little BMW Ding is !

You could always hand it over to your car insurers and let them deal with her. It doesn't matter whether the dog is insured or not, she's still liable. She may be covered by her household or (less likely) car insurance policy's third party liability cover.

Either way don't be forced into a budget repair.

Quick update. I've managed to get a quote for work. (Did try BMW but they haven't sorted anything yet, or returned my calls!) - but a body shop with good rep has quoted £1018 - new bumper, 2 x kidney grilles, 1 x lower bumper grille, plus materials, labour etc.

The woman who owns the dog didn't call me as agreed, so called her a few days later... She apologised and gave some lame excuse. I explained cost of damage. She said she 'hasn't got that kind of money' neither does she have house insurance. She said she wanted to come with her friend today so he can back up if what repairs I say are needed are correct. Fair enough I thought, so she said she'd call Monday. Surprisingly enough, she hasn't called. I've managed to track her down via Facebook, and have located her address. (Luckily enough, she runs a pub) although a post on her Facebook page is worrying in that it suggests she may be moving away.

My insurance are totally useless basically saying they can't / wont persue an individual for payment, so not sure what my options are really..?
