Front foglights next to useless? (facelifted)

Sorry to hear about all these other Zeds with front foglights like mine, it's most annoying....! I've posted a few pictures in my newbie post of our Zed, trying to avoid front foglights from getting into the shot! :x

Only had our Z4 Coupe since last Thursday - wife had to take into Westerly BMW in Yeovil to sort out fogs, same probs as others and windscreen motor packed up!! All ok to be done under warranty, new set of fogs and wiper motor when they come in!! Didn't realise the back fog is drivers side only, they said!! Wife still luvs the bloody thing!!

.... What on earth are they made of?

They are cast aluminium with a plated light chrome. Read VERY THIN chrome. They are mounted to a composite plastic frame and then attatched to the bumper cover. 2 Torx screws hold them to an adjuster and the frame. Then there are 2 snap in ears that hold the rest.

Getting both of mine replaced under warranty, dealer hasnt even tried to tell me they need drying out, I have told them I have tried this already (which I have).

I remember something from the BBC about car problems... think it may have been watchdog.

The car needs to be fit for purpose, and it's parts should provide an adequet lifetime.
If they don't (which imo 4 years for a set of lights) and the car has been properly maintained (as per any documented instructions provided when the car was bought <owners manual>, which your's clearly has) then you can get them fixed F.O.C under the (i think) sale of goods act.

Obviously, you'd want to do some digging and verify my thoughts, but I definately remember that it doesn't matter if it's outside of any guarantee or warantee.. if it doesn't last for an adequet part lifetime, it can get replaced for free.

Has anyone had problems with their front (facelifted) foglights I wonder? Mine are next to useless and seem to be full of condensation permanently.

BMW have taken a look at them and said that they are corroded. My car is just over 3 years old and so manufacturers warranty is out but I took the extended BMW (most expensive package) before I lost this option on it's 3rd birthday. Needless to say, BMW won't cover the foglights as, apparently, they're corroded. They want £75 + fitting + vat per luminaire to rectify.

Maybe I've missed the point and they're the new revolutionary foglights fitted to my Zed - in that the luminaire is actually full of fog :?

Change the front bumper for the M style :P It had ducts to cool the brakes and no crappy condensation since fog lamps are not included :D

sk93, BMW's normal approach with regard to condensation in headlights or fog lights is "Thats's normal Sir, they all do that", they tried it when I had condensation in a headlight, until they actually saw it.

You serious? What if the roof motor corrodes and gives way?

I'm on an extended warranty, and tbh it is a pile of crap. I have argued sometimes in the dealership for work to be done. If someone on here can categorically state that the roof motor is not covered, i for one will not renew.

Either I have missed a post or you have thrown a curve ball, what's the roof got to do with fog lights?
