Front end Suspension Refresh

Sorry i dont understand, i have the old control arms and bushes to look at, but dont see anything you describe. The lollipop is the small rear bush housing, with the two bolt holes, the small item in the above pic yes? Are the dowels visible in that pic? Are they visible when fitted?

The garage is a bm specialist, so would expect they're ok fitting the part. They had others in stock so must fit them regularly.

On another note, i can generate a knock when driving by steering hardish left then right, works most times.

I thought it may not even be related to the suspension work, and could be a broken exhaust mount, and i'm hearing that knock around in the exhaust tunnel...

The last set I took off had dowels that in effectnsleevemthenbolt into the chassis. No visible in the photo and not visible when fitted. If you have some lollipops on the bench you'd see one side where the bolts fit is recesses, matching the chassis. It they were missing or not located correctly, then the lollipop would move side to side.

Since you can induce it with steering I'd get it on a ramp and try to replicate that.
 
All fixed.

The spring wasn't seated properly and was shifting on the pad. No I can enjoy :driving:
 
I god damn love this forum.

I replaced my RTAB's with polyflex items and have a slight knock, thought I'd checked everything but come to think of it I didn't check the spring seating. hope that's that.

For those interested the polyflex RTAB's make the rear end feel great, very tight and solid/flat in the corners) and are extremely easy to get in (once you've got the old ones out :headbang: ) Not a DIY job for most though.

I'll be doing the front end next weekend with one of these Meyle kits I think, then it's alignment time :thumbsup:
