I've been painting up my calipers one at a time as time permits, anyway the last one I did (NSF) I stupidly somehow managed to catch the dust boot with the wire brush & tear a hole in it
, I've ordered up a new dust boot from BMW which will be in tomorrow, has anyone managed to replace one of these & how much of a faff is it?
I'm imagining that I would:-
1, remove the caliper main body as if changing the pads
2, gently pump the brake pedal until the piston has moved out a bit.
3, remove the old dust boot
4, refit the new boot, push back the piston with a clamp
5, reassemble pads & caliper.
Does that sound about right?, someone please tell me that the whole caliper doesn't need to be taken to bits to change just the dust boot
(PS, I'm not using the car until I've got a new boot sorted).
