Front bumper replacement?

Travelling back from Leeds on the the M62 Wednesday night in the pouring rain when I came across, what looked like, part of a packing crate in the outside lane! Doing about 75mph and, with no time to avoid it, BANG! Slowed down to make sure the tyre wasn't deflating, but didn't stop as it was not a good place to get out. Next day discovered that the impact had been on the front spoiler on the passenger side - the plastic had a crease in it where the spoiler had been temporarily pushed back, and the grill & silver surround was missing from the left lower side.
Ordered a replacement grill & silver insert (£26 in total), and just hope that the clips in the spoiler are all intact.

Does anyone know how difficult it would be to replace the entire front bumper if the damage is worse than I currently think?
 
You can get a front bumper from eBay about £150. Paint and fitting another £200-£300 unless you know someone at a paint shop.
 
i still have an m sport bumper with grills in my back yard, that i bought and never got to fit as i bought an m sport instead..... so if worse comes to worse, i could sell you that :)

i dont think its a major job to fit them
 
Good idea to swap to the MSport bumper but you will need new bottom grills :thumbsup:
 
Think I would prefer to stick with the correct bumper for the car to be honest.

Can't you claim off the insurance? if you have a protected no claims?

You can claim on insurance subject of course to the amount of excess. Most policies have £250 to £500+. On top many have a voluntary excess that can take it out of the reach of such a claim. Just have to read the policy.

Just a thought, if you were going through a BMW bodyshop as it would be pricey anyways :?

Hows Lichfield? surrounded by water yet? Getting a bit dodgy along the Penk Valley at Stafford :(

It's worse than that when you factor in the increased premium next year!
Yes you maintain your full No Claims - but the premium may be increased as the risk has changed.

An old codger clattered into my wifes car some years ago and I made a claim thro Audi assist so our insurance company was not involved - we claimed all the costs - but her premium went up the following year because:-
"You were involved in an accident" - Bandits!
You'll have to do your sums!
 
Took the Z into the BMW body shop in Peterborough - they heated the bumper, re-shaped it back to original lines, sanded it down, and resprayed the entire bumper. Good as new!
