Front bumper protector

I'm getting ready to pull the front bumper and give it a fresh coat of paint... After 8 years is starting to show some signs of age.

I'll take it to the BMW body shop to strip, patch the license plate holes and repaint...

Then I was thinking about applying the 3M clear bra and I was looking at the BMW catalog and found a front bumper protector: it's supposedly a piece of Lexan that goes under the bumper: anyone has it installed?

Here's the link: http://www.circlebmwparts.com/cgi-bin/acc/e85acc.cgi?db=e85acc&uid=&code=170&series=e85&view_records=View+Records&nh=3&mh=1

80 bucks is not bad...

Have seen this on here before, not sure of the point of it TBH because it only protects the part of the bumper that you don't see anyway. But yeah maybe for $80 it's worthwhile.

My lower Alpina spoiler has several stone chips. Although this wouldnt sort it can you get a clear plastic that could be applied over and form all the tight curves/letters?
I would only apply it to the Alpina part not the whole front. Anyone know of a product and where it can be obtained?

For the rock chips you can use the 3M clear bra: you should be able to find it pre-cut on the Net. This Lexan piece actually goes Under the bumper to avoid scratching it when you mistakenly go over the french fry at the end of the parking space
