Front bumper brackets

I'm changing my front number soon due to it being slightly damaged & have been reading this 'how to':
https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1071
My question is how likely is it that the brackets will need to be replaced? Are they particularly fragile? I think it's these that I'll need if mine break: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-NEW-...BUMPER-BRACKET-HOLDERS-PAIR-SET-/202075367246 . Do you think I should take the hit & get new ones? The 'how to' thread is quite old & I'm guessing my brackets are original. Anyone done this recently? Thanks

I recently changed from pre-facelift to a facelift bumper... the brackets on mine were already broken so I replaced them, I've heard they can be brittle with age and tend to snap... I guess it depends on your urgency... if you are able to try with the existing ones, but then they snap - and you have time to order some more and wait a few days before refitting then I'd say wait until you need them. It's anyones guess as to the condition of your current ones.

I would think that as long you're careful when removing the old bumper (And to be fair, they bumper should just "pop" out of the brackets with somewhat little force) then you should be fine and not need new ones.

Just my 2 cents worth anyways

I've broken a few whilst removing my front bumper multiple times. They're worth buying just incase.

If you're brackets are the originals, then chances are they will break.

Changed my bumper and they broke, expensive for what they are but you'll probably have to buy a pair

I've had my front bumper off three or four times in the last year without any breakages. The act of typing this reply will no doubt guarantee multiple snappings the next time I pop it off :)

id had my bumper off 3-4 times without breaking one, but when i had to take bumper off in winter one snapped, replaced that one this year, and its allot stronger then the others, wouldnt like to take it off again

Thanks guys, I reckon I'll buy some just in case, with my luck they'll break or will already be broken  . I'm doing the near side splash guard at the same time that is totally split (the part with the air temperature sensor in it). I'm guessing the bumper has probably had a good clout at sometime which may have broken the bracket anyway, though you can't see anything from the outside.
I'm looking at bmwparts.net, I know they're in Lithuania but at under £55 delivered for the pair it might be worth a punt? Most of their prices look a bit dear tbh but these are a good price. The website is set out like realoem which quite useful too  . Anyone used them?

Well, guess what... the old brackets didn't break so I have 2 brand new bumper brackets that I don't need, P/No. 51117165 179 & 180. Guess I'll put them on the for sale section at sometime.

Hi I'm in need of some. For how much are you willing to sell them? Maybe we can have a deal!
