front bumper bracket query.

Reversed off a raised bit of brickwork, known as the local town carpark, and smashed my front bumper off the ground in the process.

This caused the drivers side bumper bracket to snap, meaning my bumper is now sitting terribly, as per the photo:

I've been on real oem and found part numbers for both sides, but they only say left and right, rather than drivers/passenger side.

Does anyone know which one I need? Cheers.

Luckily, no. I think it caught the skid plate underneath, so saved any damage to the bumper.

Excellent, while it didn't save the clip it might've protected the bumper from cracking!

Out of dumb curiosity is there a how to on replacing the bracket, I've seen a write up when the bumper is totally removed, but is it a must to remove the bumper? And how do you get to it if the bumpers not removed?

Think the wing needs to come off too, as the bracket goes behind the wing as well... could be wrong though, its been known to happen :lol:

You don't need to take either the bumper or the wing off.

Taking the bumper off might save a few scraped knuckles, but could be a pain realigning and risk breaking the bracket on the other side.

Just carefully pull the old bracket out, if you brake the bracket more that's okay, just careful of the wing. The new on pops in. Then just press the bumper back in (make sure the grooves are lined up and give a bit of pressure)

to replace the bracket you just need the bumper off,

luckily your bracket has fully broken, i replaced mine when one of the lugs broke off & it was a bugger to remove as they click into place!

Not cheap unfortunately either, think i paid nearly £30 from BMW

Agree - no need to remove the bumper, just flex it slightly.

I found it easiest to also undo the arch liner and snap off the clips where the bracket locked into the wing. Avoided the risk of panel damage.

About to fit new OEM brackets to my front bumper and wondered if the procedure is to attach them to the bumper first and then push up into the wing? I don't want to snap these ones too as they're £32 each!

I advise to check the wing and make sure the slots are not deformed. Sometimes need a rap back to flat. Fit the brackets to wing then press in the bumper cover when you have it aligned. Needs. A good solid bang with hand
