Front brake wear light on. How many miles ...?

from my experience , there probably only 60-70 percent worn.
probably any competent tech could look and advise re life left.
will depend on how heavy you are on the brakes, but you will have to live with the warning light coming on and off, or change them early which is what they want you to do.
 
If you want rid of the warning light Im sure you can disconnect the sensor and connect the 2 wires then reset the brake service.
Years ago I done this on our Mini and as said the pads probably have loads of life left in them.
