Front Brake Upgrade

I have just done my second track day(first one last year) and found that my the brake fade was still bad. I had fitted EBC Redstuff pads to standard discs but the pads have worn exceedingly quickly during the track day and over heated the front discs, one of which has a slight crack.

I am looking at the 330i 325mm disc & caliper upgrade but I am having problems finding the carrier to buy anywhere. Anyone got any ideas where I can buy these separately, I have tried ebay?

Or if I just fit groove and drilled discs (standard 300mm) will this give me the upgrade I need for the occasional track day (2 or 3 per year)?

Is the 325mm disc and caliper upgrade worth the extra effort and cost over standard 300mm that I would see a difference for the odd track use?

Phone a few breakers yards, especially those that advertise on Ebay as breaking 330D or petrols.

I and others have had no trouble as they are an unwanted part given they never break or need replacing, unlike the calipers.

Doubt just changing to drilled and or grooved will help much, you need bigger disks and better pads to not only dissipate heat and cope better, but provide more surface area

Once you've sourced your caliper parts, you might want to consider EBC Yellowstuff or even Bluestuff as they are far more suited to track use than the Redstuff. Alternatively, if you have a bit more cash, you could consider Pagid pads.

I have the 325mm upgrade and it makes a huge difference on a track day.

I bought a set of clippers and carriers from quarry motors and then had them rebuilt by big red with new seals and Pistons etc

I also fitted braided hoses and racing Dot 4 fluid (ATE super blue)

I have a 1 spare caliper and carrier if you want for a cheap price
