Had a notification on my phone for 47% off

So checked the price of front discs and they are a bit cheaper if anyone needs or will need some soon

Why is the right more expensive than the left? Are they not the same? If not, why not?

Can't beat a bit of 'M' tax. Still double the cost of discs for 'ordinary' cars and I fail to see much difference (except fitment) TBH.
 
Bought a pair of Pagid rear discs from Halfords a couple of weeks ago and they came to £69.74 for the pair including VAT which I thought was pretty good. And it's cheaper than ordering them online off the Halfords website (£75.76) :thumbsup:

I had new front discs, calipers and pads fitted on Monday at RBM Hampshire.

But why do they price them individually? Would anyone seriously consider replacing just one on an M car?

I am looking. Is it because they are 'two piece'? I'm sure it makes all the difference (to one's bank account).

So why are they side specific? :?
 
M discs are sided to allow for the air flow

Get them on the wrong axles and they won’t cool owt!
 
Two piece discs usually have the bell in a different material, both for weight and thermal properties.

The way they are connected is intended to minimise the heat transfer to the bell and wheel bearing (there are aftermarket options that are better than others of course), and also allow for differential thermal expansion of the disc (aka ‘floating’) via the rods that connect the two pieces.

I was in Stratstone BMW last week and asked for the best price on a pair of discs - £500 incl VAT, so maybe worth asking, or if Cotswold will better?
 
Based on those prices I think I got a pretty good deal at RBM last week!

Ross doesn't split his invoices between parts and labour but I got my new OE front discs, pads and wear sensor for just under £720 including fitting and VAT.
 
They are sided if you care to take a look at them, as they cool by rotation. Surprisingly often you see kids put on the wrong sided discs! Like children putting their shoes on wrong... :D
