From pink license to Z4

Abit off topic but i thought id share with you my journey with cars, and how i ended up with a Z4
as most will agree i think the z series is proberly the sexyiest range of cars made and im so pleased to own one.

Shortly after i was 18 i got my first car and have been touring the Yorkshire roads for 4 years now

my ticket to freedom, a 2003 1.2 dynamique, leaking sunroof, dodgy electrics, rattled past 80 but it was AWSOME

i got years no claims under my belt and treated myself to a civic 1.6 sport 2004 39,000 1 old lady owner from new it was a steal!
At 19 i couldnt afford insurance on a type-r so i got the next best thing!

I didnt want to do a full type-r replica but i couldn't find any other alloys that suited the car, so decided to go for a mugen twist

genuine type-r alloys
fk springs, 65mm front and 45mm rear
type-r replica spoiler (so it fitted properly)
mugen front grill
heko wind deflectors
debadged

then shortly after my 21st birthday an opportunity of a lifetime fell on my lap, my friend Ross, owner of Alexandersneevehicles in York came to my house in this after work

a 2003 Z4 2.5 75,000 with the full aerokit and the 225 alloys!
it had been part-x for a range rover that morning, he offered it at cost price and i took it off his hands instantly!
and due to turning 21 it was reasonable on the insurance.

then followed one of the greatest summers of my life owning these two badboys as i still had 4 months insurance left on the honda!

So as with the Honda i like to modify my cars with 'brand' parts so to speak, so the fact the aerokit was already on was perfect
i wasnt sure about the alloys at first but i thought with a tweak i may like them.

aerokit (fitted)
225 alloys (fitted)
bilstein sport shocks
eibach pro springs
pads
disks
tyres
debadged

The black. I just think it looked better before but we all know everyone has their own opinion!

They'll be mixed answers on every post lol.

Not keen on the wheels being black but otherwise quite nice. Best car colour of course :D
Not a fan of how the front mud flaps on the z4 show so much on the bodywork lines (I am fussy)

Dechrome the front grilles and cut them sidereps down

Normally I'd agree, I'm not generally a fan of black wheels.

But I think it works in this case.

Really love the car, and the aero bodykit, looks the mutts. Should be a must for a pre-facelift cars

Not a bad set-up for 21 years old.

I do love the full aero kit - it all hangs together so well on the curves of the Z

Car looks lovely, great mods so far. As for the wheels, I can't say I have seen them before on a Z and they're really quite nice. Prefer them silver, but the black looks ok on a grey car so if you're happy then that's just peachy 8)

Oh, and welcome to the forum, guess I missed your newbie thread

Think it looks great including the black wheels, but then I know that black wheels invariably look worse in photos than in real life, even with a well executed HDR shot

Well done being able to get yourself such a fab car at your age :D

Full aero kit looks mean. Great post and car.

Good post, nice car, looks v smart almost OEM+

...except for the wheels (I don't like black wheels though as it removes the contrast in the design and looks like a black hole, but that's me on 95% of cars with black wheels..)

Nice car
Just being a nosey old git, @ 21 with those mods how much is your insurance ?

im with admiral insurance this year im only paying £1300 (inc. mods)
it was only an extra £2 to declare all my mods!!!

i wasnt as lucky last year as i paid £2700 which wasnt fun, but worth it for the car at my age, as alot of my friends will pay up to £2000 for your standard 1.2 hatchbck so i cant complain

it was a treat to myself for qualifying as a barber, unlike the majority of my friends i didnt go to uni because... money, cars and girls are far more important!

so instead of turning 21 with a degree, i turned 21 with a British barbering qualification, a German roadster and Russian girlfriend.. :driving:

thank you for the comments everyone, and ironicly enough the gingergators and the chrome kidneys are next on the list
and the front mudflaps are kept on because personally i like the look, but i dont think the camera phone photos do it justice!

nice shot of the car and work for you all!

You've done some very nice mods on the car - your enthusiasm jumps off the page - nice post and nice car.

Always thought being a barber would be a great career - something which would always be needed wherever you were so always a money maker - fancied buying a small place in France and living above the shop. Sounds great to me and your place of work looks really good - jealous

Welcome to the Forum.

:driving:
