Hia Folks,

Thanks for all the Welcome Messages on the Newbies Forum,

Now looking for some advice after a few changes made already:-

Front Grille Changed to Black
Stubby Antenna Fitted (but may revert back from time to time!)
Cosmetic BMW Black and White Tyre Dust Caps Fitted
Oil Service Inspection Carried Out (obs - Front Lower Wishbone Bushes Soft)

29,000 Miles on the clock!

Any advice on:-

Front Headlights (go from amber to clear?)
Interior Changes (change panelling to piano black?)

Any advice would be appreciated!

Few images attached (I am learning that pics are important!)

Tomo

Headlights would look great upgraded with black inners , sorry i can't help on " How to " though :?
Not sure if you are asking for ideas for future mods but i would also be blacking the lower bumper under number plate & if the alloys need refurb then black stars / mirrored silver rims would look ace imo (would also factor in £80 for a set of wheel spacers to transform the stance )

Sub 30k original white is rare thing

Did you replace the grills or spray them. I'm looking for chrome

Blacking the lower bumper ? Confused dot com,

The alloys are ok mate * 1 may need a refurb at some point but not horrendous (just a few bubbles around some of the split rim bolts - hardly noticeable).

Whilst I want to keep the car original as much as possible, I am tempted to change the front lights (I personally like the 2004 back lights so wont be changing them!)

Inside - I would like to spruce it up a little with some piano black!

Headrest Frames - a week ago, I was looking at getting them painted white like Jingles but I am now more of the opinion that they would look much better in a gloss piano black ?

Thoughts ?

The attached image was before I purchased

I changed them fella (only £47) - I will probably keep the chromes just for resell purposes or if I fancy a change back - are they hard to get hold of then ?

Got the aluminium interior resprayed to piano black on my previous Z4. Can recommend Wicked Coatings for the job - they did mine for £135 delivered and I think it actually held up better than the OEM piano black finish that I have now.

You are to young to be driving this car.
Take it back and get yourself a 1974 Pinto. Would be much safer. :poke:

I would recommend going this route if you want piano black and the finish is good. OEM piano black trims are eye wateringly expensive. around £600+ for the set. They do look bloody awesome though. I have them in mine.

That looks exactly what I am looking for - looks so much better.

I may ask a local sprayer if he can do the job, if not I will be looking at Wicked Coatings for sure.

Anyone know what the best clear lights are for me to consider ?

Interested to see how this lovely white Z evolves :fuelfire:

Thanks Jingle - I am toying with some clear headlights but if Im honest I have no clue where to start!

You have a lovely original z in a rare colour so Id keep all the original parts so as can return to stock if needed. Fitting clear light to your car is a big job as the clears were mostly facelift light that don't work on pre facelift. There was a short cross over in 05 but these lights do not come up second hand. You will most likely need to cut the lens of and replace the orange hockey stick (indicator part) with clears- big job but doable- see cj10jeepers thread.

Sounds like a lot of work cutting into a headlight!

Is there after market headlights available that fit my pre-facelift model and would not throw up any ECU errors ?- if I change anything, I will keep all the original parts (like I have with the grille), as it is a rare example.

I am torn with painting the interior to piano black but it would look a lot better imo

Thanks Paddy Wright for the reply.

A very rough photo-shop, but he means doing this:

Leave it alone.
A lovely unmolested low milesge white E85 will be a rare car in a few years.
Whatever you do make sure its easily reversable al la your black grills.

Listen to your dad

Yep - you are probabaly right Dad albeit it's tempting to make a few changes and if I changed lights would keep the originals of course:-

1) Black Grille changed (originals kept in box and I may revert back at some point)

2) Thinking of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Z4-E84-E85-2003-2008-BLACK-PROJECTOR-ANGEL-EYE-HEADLIGHTS-E-MARKED-/400815371352?hash=item5d52753458:g:PhoAAOSww9VXhP3X - Are they good ?

3) Considering Piano Black Interior changes - which of course can not be reversed!

Thoughts ?

One of a minority to say leave your interior alone.
Unless your lights are in poor repair again leave stock.
If you want to spend some money that will transform the looks of the car get a set of ///M 224 style wheels
They'll improve the stance of an SE and look stunning on your car.
