From Merc to BMW, can’t wait....

New to the roadster lifestyle, this former Merc man has just brought a 2008 Z4 2.5L as his first ever BMW.

I went with the Z4 over the SLK as I just wanted a superior drive over comfort. Plan is to take out a 15/16 plate beauty next summer after I lose my greenhorns. Currently not going to well, overheating already :?

Anyways, I’m not one to easily give up and looking forward to life on a new forum

Hi and welcome to the forum.

If you can't see any obvious reason for it overheating (coolant up to level and no signs of leaks) I'd try to get the fault codes read from the On Board Diagnostics as it sounds like your electric water pump may have died. They seem to do this anytime after 60K miles, and sadly you don't get any warning.

But if you bought from a trader just take it right back!

I hope you can get it sorted.

And don't forget we like photos.

I’ll add pictures Soon, cars left at a garrage. Water pump is most certainly the culprit, just ordered one for £211 from Germany. Rather wait a week then drop £590 from BMW,

Definitely don't want to be paying BMW prices for one! :o

So long as it's made by Pierburg it's the same part wherever you buy it!

Washed, waxed and full interior valet and then it rains...just as I was about to borrow a buffer to give the mirror shine...
This car had been severely mistreated and in a filthy state.
