From a 335i to a Z4?

Z4NextYear?

I have driven nothing but 335's for the last few years and have enjoyed them. My lease is up in a few months and I feel like a change.

I am curious if any of you have owned sedans and switched to the Z? What was your experience like? I am single but still concerned about the practicality of having a smaller car. The dealer also told me not to expect as smooth a ride as the 335.

I test drove a 3.0 but it was very underwhelming, since I am used to the 300hp of the 335. I need to obviously test drive the bigger engine Z4...that will happen soon.

I am also an audiophile and would get the premium sound system on the Z4.

Thanks for any and all feedback!

Cheers!

I have the Z4 35i and it's a very very quick car. Maybe not as solid to drive as a saloon but def quicker. In a drag it can hold its own almost against an M3. I like my sounds too, and in the higher level audio, there are two sub woofers, one behind each seat. Bass really kicks in behind each seat. Also you have the new hard drive to store all your music on.

Good luck!

Have to say, if you found the 3.0 underwhelming that there must have been something wrong with it !

And what's a sedan ? :poke:

Seriously, I gave up my beloved Audi A6 for the Z4 and though the Z4 is NOT as comfortable as the A6, it is FAR more rewarding to drive.

Thanks for the feedback. I look forward to hearing from other Z4 owners, especially those who may have switched from a 335 or another sedan.

The main reason I'm thinking of a change is I have leased two 335's for nearly 6 years total. Ready for something different!

Guys I am pretty certain the OP is talking about a new Z4.

The Sdrive35i should give you the performane you are looking for.

.....and just what exactly is the speed limit in your part of the good old United States of America?

Definitely. It's the same engine but in a Z4. Natural transfer, surely? It'll be, and feel, a lot faster than the 335i.

Anyone got the phone number for BMW //M division?

Give them a tinkle and tell them not to bother anymore.

It looks like a 3.0, or 3.0si, or s35i is the most powerful Z4.

Yes guys, I'm referring to testing out the 300hp Z4, the 35i. Haven't done it yet, as its fairly rare at the dealerships near me. I will have to drive to Los Angeles and test it out there.

Looking forward to it! Just not sure if I'm prepared for the "shock" of going from a sedan's practicality to the Z. But I am 41 years old and this may be my last shot at a really fun car...lol.
