Friggin Gas Cap Won't Come Off!!

I just bought a 2003 BMW Z4 Roadster and can't unscrew the darn gas cap. Anyone experienced this before? I need to put gas in it for the first time but can't unscrew it. Help!!!!!

It will come off really easily if u hold a blowtorch against it for 30-40 seconds. Just stand back a bit tho...

Try some very hot water. Reminds me of a holiday in Crete when we were getting petrol. The attendant filled the car up while smoking a cigarette. But to be fair he did try to keep it away from the nozzle. Could see the fumes of the petrol rising from the tank. Longest three minutes of my life.

In the UK, we eat 2 weetabix before trying anything to strenuous :wink:

Not sure what a weetabix is but it doesn't sound as appetizing as a Pop Tart. Ha. I was able to get the cap off using a pump pliers. I opened the jaws wide and put short pieces of thick wall tubing over the metal jaws to prevent damage to the plastic cap. I used the pump pliers like a spanner wrench to gain some leverage and after a couple tries it came off. I can't believe how tight it was. Anyway I managed to remove it sans weetabix.

Ah, good news, sounds like the rubber seal may have stuck to the filler neck. May be worth putting some silicone on the seal to help next time
