Hi all,
Just a reminder when looking for parts to be aware of scammers on Facebook marketplace and remember the old saying - if it's too good to be true, it probably is.
I'm normally quite cautious about these things but I had my guard down as I wanted the parts for my wedding car. In summary, these are the red flags to look for:
- Low price for the condition of the parts
- Generic website
- Fast delivery as they happened to have a delivery not too far from you;
- Asked for a different bank to make the payment transfer;
- Not willing to dispatch parts unless payment is made.
Things to check if you're suspicious;
- Try and find the images by searching Google images/reverse image search (that's how I knew I was scammed as the images used were from a US company)
- Contact the business on Google to check the business they are impersonating;
Hope this helps someone.
