Phoned the local BMW parts today to enquire about getting a CD Autochanger fitted to my wifes Z4. (she is determined to get one)

£600 for the unit

£350 + vat to fit at £99 per hour labour

REALLY!!!

The guy wouldn't give me the part number for the unit either.

That's obscene... Someone on here will have the part number, or try realoem.com

£75 from eBay or ping srhutch, as he is fitting a intravee so might have the cd changer spare.

You could always have an AUX cable fitted?

pvr's suggestion sounds good though

In fairness, it is a complete pain in the arse to fit the changer in a z4. Most if the interior trim behind the passenger seat has to come out, some of the trim on the tranny tunnel etcetc. It's a ballache, and a piss poor design from BMW.

I along with many other members have found that the unit has a habit of sticking and mine frequently skipped on bumpy roads until I got rid of the run flat tyres, it's not worth that sort of money.

Fair enough about the labour, no way around that but £600 for the unit?? Daylight robery. It's like a builder overpricing because they don't really want the job.

This the part number for the cd changer just click the link below.

Ebay might be worth a look for a cheap second hand one or fit an Aux lead as previous mentioned,10 min job once you get the centre vents out

I've had a couple of members show an interest, but I've never used it so don't know how well it works.

eBay probably best bet and I can leave mine fitted to fill the gap.
