Yo folks just had delivered a 2004, Black, 2.5i, Manual Z with 17" rims.

Absolute blast already!

Got her for £2,100 which I was pretty chuffed with at current rates. Done 118k and I've so far not noticed anything wrong. Roof motor is new and relocated to rear. On close inspection the paintwork has little stone chips, and interior is average, but it still looks amazing and drives like an absolute rebel esp on these wet roads hah!

Next week I'm having the back box and resonators deleted, and fitting tips. Today I took the air box out and ordered a 10 inch cone filter. I ran flexi pipe from the grille to the factory cold air inlet, removing the plastic cup that blocks it, behind the grille. Then I will fit a heat shield. Yes I want it loud, it's my weekend car.

Averaging about 0 MPG, and will prob need shares in a tyre company soon. Love the car and it looks gorgeous!

Any other essential mods? I considered the sound generator but I feel they're over priced and the exhaust will soon be loud enough.

Welcome.. Bargain buy you have there  sound generator mod would be useless when you do the delete. Sounds like it's going to be a bit loud :D

Welcome to the forum.

And you put a photo in your first post - bonus points there.

Your car sounds like a bargain, and looks really smart.

Other essential mods, well you could remove the Clutch Delay Valve and ditch the run-flats if it is still on them - the list seems to be endless!

Hey chaps thanks for the replies and welcome 😁

I don't think I'm running run flats thankfully. So what how does the Clutch Delay Valve work and how do get rid of this? 😄🙌

Hope yall have a great lockdown weekend ahead!

Run-flats typically have "RFT" or "RSC" on the side-wall.

The CDV restricts the flow of fluid to the clutch slave cylinder to limit damage caused by ham-fisted drivers.

If you can do it yourself it costs nothing, but your car should drive better without it - this thread goes into more detail:- https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=1227

Excellent thanks! Yeah I do what diy I have the time / tools for (sole charge single working dad so pretty flat out half the time 😂). Done a cambelt and various welds on the driveway with other vehicles before so as long as it's not too awkward should be fine.

I can't see anything on the tyres, they just look like budgets. I may change for potenzas or something when they wear out, but as this car is so fun with the back out I'm not sure I want to wreck premium tyres!? 🤔

Nice sunny morning right now, tempted to go and get some milk and bread I don't yet need! 😂

Maybe this CDV is why I can hit 3rd from 2nd without bloody slipping it! Honestly been thinking my clutch is worn out. There isn't 'tons' of travel left, but certainly more than how soft it's felt driving.

Will the trans handle launches and such okay without the CDV? How strong is the box/diff? Prefer not to wear a clutch out with CDV, but would rather wear a clutch and damage the trans.

Hi and welcome to the forum. Removing CDV restores a much more “normal” feel to the gearchange, particularly 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. You car was made in the US where there are a lot of people not used to driving a manual. The gearbox can be a bit stubborn but it was like that from the factory and you rarely hear of gearbox/trans/clutch problems on this forum so I guess they’re quite tough. CDV delete is a simple job in that it’s easy to get at, you just take it off and stick the pipes back together. Best to bleed the clutch which may sort out your travel issue.
