fresh respray - cover protection

My Zed is currently being resprayed and should be back the end of December maybe into January. I was planning to store over the winter at work but thats not possible now. I do have a garage but thats got other cars in so will have to stay outside under cover. Obviously I dont want the paintwork to get scuffed with the movement from the cover - has anyone ever used cling film or other to protect? thinking it might work but is it durable enough?
cheers

Hi,

maybe it would be a good idea to have a soft cover (indoor) as the layer between the paint and the outdoor cover?

perhaps even a few ordinary bed linens would do the trick?

I did think of that but worried a soft cover would hold the damp/wet etc - condensation etc

yes, that is my "problem" with any cover, especially with the outdoor / waterproof ones... I am seriously thinking of an outdoor "Carcoon":

it's approximately £600 for a Z4... more or less what I pay every year for winter storage...

My advice would be to just leave it to the elements if you have nowhere to store it inside.
A cover, even with clingfilm will just give you problems.
I was using a Stormforce cover for a while due to a water ingress problem but don’t feel the need to use it over winter. The only time I’ll probably use it is if we have snowfall this winter.

Do yourself a favour and invest in a DA and some decent compound and polish and give it a yearly detail.

I’m seriously thinking about one of these too but just can’t bring myself to pull the trigger!

Do not use cling film whatever you do . Moisture will get trapped underneath and ruin it . Storm force covers don’t damage the paint If fitted correctly .

Agree with Chris_D do not put any sort of cover on it especially with freshly painted bodywork i would just apply a couple of layers of a durable wax for the winter months then look at either polishing and waxing each year or some sort of protective coating as suggested.

If you have the space, and you're still concerned about the fresh paint and protection then Clarke do a 'pop up' garage/workshop.

But surely you need to leave suitable time for it to off-gas? And fully harden? Or can you PPF straight away?

I was just about to buy a storm force cover as my car is outside and I like the fact that they can be bought with side protection bags which would be a massive bonus for me as I have to park between 2 neighbours cars.
Any tips/suggestions?
