French trip

Finally got round to sorting out a few photos. Apologies for #308 not looking quite right but I put my 17" wheels on for the trip.
After a horrible trip across getting caught up in "Operation Stack" we raced down to Reims for the first night. Second day we took a leisurely drive down to the Morvan/Burgandy region using back roads. First stop was the old Formula 1 circuit of Gueux.

The other car in this photo is also a Brit, the French just like to race along the long straight :driving: A really atmospheric place last used in the 1970s

We only had a day in the Morvan but we will return as it has fantastic roads & scenery & very few tourists - mostly Belgians & Dutch in big diesels.
We spent the rest of the holiday based in the Jura at Chateau-Chalon which is justifiably designated as one of France's most beautiful villages.

Just down the road is Baume-les-Messieurs (Cheddar on steroids) with its caves & great walks, we even saw an eagle here.

The roads in the Jura are built for the Zed & with little traffic about we had great fun :driving: , #308 was sounding great in the gorges :)
We had another beautiful walk up to the Pic d'Aigle (with Mont Blanc in the distance) & then to the Bellvedere des Quatre Lacs.

Another thing I like about France - empty & free car parks.

On the way home we stayed the night at a farm B&B near the Belgium border where they breed donkeys. A really lovely place where one of the locals took a fancy to #308. The day before he'd had an AC Cobra to play with :)

#308 had such a great reception can't imagine what it would be like with a convoy of Zeds.
We are already planning next year's trip.

Well done Fran, great pics and nice scenery, but I think #308 desperately needs its wheels back... 8)

I'm looking forward to hearing plans of the French Zed convoy you're organising for next year. :poke:

Love road trips and some interesting roads at some point I want to get to the Grand Prix Historique in Pau so I fancy a French Road trip.

It's what the Z4 is built for thanks for posting

Looks like a great trip. Fantastic pics.

The atomosphere of that old race track really comes through.

I agree witht the comment to get the proper wheels back on!

Those photos look amazing! My fiance & I are planning a summer road trip around France and maybe into Italy next summer - You've just caused us to add a few more destinations onto the list!

Ed - we heard you the first time, :poke:

Aah sorry, must have been my phones interwebs connection! Did you get out with your top off today Rick?!

I certainly did. Went to Halfords to buy an expensive (£20) tyre pressure gauge, on the simple basis that having spent that much I'll never actually need it! When it's 20+ degrees it is very nice with the roof off.

Went to The Sportsman at Amberley for dinner. Was hoping to go in the Zed, but large hound decided to come with us, so Discovery it was.
