Just had a full software update yesterday and one of the questions i asked was why don`t i get album artwork on the idrive screen when i play music from my ipod, turns out you need the latest type of cable that has a triangular piece where it splits to the mini jack and usb plug, old type has oblong piece, so i have a spare (old type) cable up for grabs totally free,, first person to PM me with their address gets it. :) i`ll even pay the postage :o I`ll post some pics of the two different cables.

It`s on the way, well from monday when mr postman goes to work. :)

I'm confused. I don't have that lead, only the regular iPod lead but I get the artwork up on the screen no probs. I plug into the USB socket under the armrest.

Yes, you actually don't need the BMW lead at all on MY2011+ cars. The cars with COMBOX are able to transfer music digitally... though I think the BMW lead allows you to play copy protected audio via the AUX splitter. My car is MY2009 and doesn't have COMBOX (the comms/entertainment system upgrade which adds artwork and A2DP (bluetooth audio)). Not that I miss it, as I'm not certain what artwork really adds to the experience, other than something to look at just before you hit another car lol...
