So today I was making progress getting my M back on the road and noticed I had a squeal from the front brakes, only done about 10 miles with them on and this was gentle driving as new pads. I took the pads out to grease them and realised that the dust boots have all deformed from what I can only assume is the pads touching the boots contacting the pads at all times and heat has deformed them. I have ebc pads which are 15mm thick rather than most other pads at 16mm thick but I have found that the inboard pads are tighter in the caliper than the outboard pads. This is due to the caliper sitting slightly off centre to the disc but I can’t find anyone else having this issue on the forum. I don’t want to purchase a full set of dust boots for it to happen again straight away and also if anyone else has had to effectively shim behind the disc/wheel hub to centre the disc on the caliper better?
Looking at the spec of the calipers with the Renault they find a 28mm thick disc with 16mm pads and no issues so I don’t get why I have this issue when I have 28mm disc with 15mm pads.
Added the picture of one deformed dust boot
