Fraying roof fabric.

Hi Guys,

Noticed today that I've got a little spot where the fabric is fraying on the raised ridge/lip of the roof that runs above the window. Not a problem with regards to leaks but you can see a tiny bit of the rubber ridge underneath and some frayed threads, just looks abit untidy really.

Anybody else experienced this? Is there anyway I could patch this over do you think? Possibly a small square of black rubber glued over with some flexible glue to prevent it fraying any more (I'd stick one on the other side aswell just for symettery)?

That sort of work is best left to a specialist company. Don't even think of bits of glue and rubber :thumbsdown:

An alternative is to buy a complete new canvas and fit it. I have in my mind it's about £175 for that alone, but may be wrong.
 
175? That would be a steal. Try 1500+. If you can get it for 175 please let me know, I'll pay you 50 + shipping to send it to me!
 
I did say I might be wrong. Thought I saw that figure on the forum for canvas only.

Still kicking myself that I was offered a brand new roof for £50 quid soon after I purchased the Zed 3 years ago and passed on it die to storage space :(

£175,was you thinking of converting a 2 man tent?

I know - must have been stuck in a parallel universe, high on glue
 
I wouldn't get a new roof over it, it's about the size of a match head and not on the roof itself, just the ridge. In saying that I don't want it getting any bigger - I'll look into a professional repair.

you might not be far off CJ. i am sure 300 quid has been mentioned before when there have been conversations on replacing the rear glass as it is integral to the roof felt and so all has to be replaced in one go.
