18 months ago i hit a fox at more speed than id care to put intowriting,i replaced the front end, undertray etc but there was a slight tear in a factory weld on the exhaust manifold.i had this repaired, but now the emissions light has come on again so obviously the repair has failed, the repair was where the 4 pipes go into one(2.0)my queston, is it still alright to drive? cost£250 last time and just aint got the cash right now! :(

No you shouldn't drive with a crack in the exhaust manifold. Depends on exactly where, but it can be pouring hot gas at other componets and also affecting the running of the engine.

Still if you can't afford to fix it then ....

Cracked exhaust manifolds can lead to CO (Carbon Monoxide) and other horrible gasses finding their way into the cabin. If the problem is bad, youll notice a ticking noise, especially when cold - plus it's likely that the exhaust gas smells rich (as extra oxygen gets into the Labmdas fooling the ECU that the car is running lean).

In short, get it fixed quickly. I had one for ages in my VX220 and it ran badly but shouldnt do any damage to the engine in the short term (maybe soot up a Lambda probe) - but you should consider your health in a front engined car!
