Four wheel alignments

I usually do it annually....
I'll likely continue to do so with the Z.
It would be somewhat dependent on mileage and usage though.

I do 15 - 18K km and track a couple of times.
Normal wear and tear, potholes etc. will change the alignment.

74k and no alignment. dead on center and absolutely no abnormal wear :) although i'll do one when i get new tires soon
That's possible... & alignment can still be off.
Depending on how the car is used that may be fine.

I'm always looking to maximize performance & handling.
So far, doing it annually, it ALWAYS had to be tweaked.

When I get it done this year I'll post before & after, compared to last alignment.
It'll be interesting to see what the change is.

*** ALSO ***
I get an alignment when I take delivery of a new car.
- by a quality performance shop (not the dealer)
Factory is never set up right... it's within spec, but not very accurately set up.

Ive owned many cars and have never had an alignment done on any of them. I've always done proper rotation of the tires (front to rears crossed) accept for staggard setups. I check tire pressure once a week and before long drives. Tires have always worn evenly, and cars track straight with no vibrations. i also avoid imperfections in the road and the roads are very smooth in the area where i drive regulary. :D

Actually I need to get my alignment done as I now feel a slight feathering on the outer edges of both fronts - good prompt

Zeefour - Interesting that you swap tires around. I thought this practice had long since stopped as each time you swap you lose an amount of tread as you rebuild new stess patterns in the tyre and with unidirection on many tyres it can only be fron to rear. I though tthe only time to do it was if 1) you want to have all 4 wear out at exactly the same time 2) certain part time (as opposed to full time) 4WD systems where tyre wear leads to unequal size and can result in transmission wind up.

Happy to have my ideas changed....

I never swap my tyres around either, once they're "scrubbed in" I don't see the point of making them do it all over again but I do change/check the geometry regularily which forces them to scrub in again to a certain degree . I like trying different set ups at track days etc and the first thing I learned is that factory settings are diabolical, so much potential is lost by using "safe compromise" geometry.

i guess tire rotation is not done in England....

it is to maximize your tire wear and life. MORE than likely, your rear tires will go first on a Z but if you rotate them in proper direction, you can gain significantly more mileage out of the tires and have set of tires that are EVENLY worn for best performance I never buy 2 tires at a time... i do 4 tires at a time. now on a staggered setup it's harder but thats why I don't have staggered setup. more expensive to maintain for slight gain of performance which I don't need.
