Found this car going to auction, with a roof, opinions??

No way of testing the roof whilst the hard top is on in my view. I'd imagine there is a microswitch that's tripped by the hard top anyway?
Even if the roof is not working i think there is enough knowledge out there to aid a repair, I guess it just depends how cheap you can get it!

Going by the MOT History....
Roughly 3000 - 5000 miles per year.
Tyres will need replaced.
Wheels need a refurb.
May have had a new windscreen. Check for any leaks!
Rear springs have been replaced.
Also repeatedly mentions tyre wear. Whether it just needs an alignment or the front suspension sorted out it probably needs the lollipops done wither way.
Even if there is a problem with the roof motor / suspension / tyres. Selling the hardtop would probably pay for a good chunk of the repairs.
Guesstimate of around £1200 worth of parts / work required!

Agree with all of the above, and all relatively simple jobs, covered extensively on here, so I'd say a good base to start from.

Nice car- well worth saving!
Manheim's condition report shows uneven tyre wear on the front, although still legal and plenty left on the back. The uneven wear on the front would indicate a suspension/bush issue of some sort, or they could just have been driven on under-inflated.
Its a one owner car which is impressive for an 11 year old car, particularly a zed but its only got 3 stamps in the service book so missing a good couple of services at least, does not always mean they haven't been done but still be careful. Have a look in the glove box as its going in if you can, see if there's any receipts just in case.
No MOT on it means you'll probably have to trailer it away, unless of course your local to the auction house and book it in for an MOT before driving it away. Don't think the cops will buy it if you buy it in Bristol and drive it to Manchester for an MOT, pre-booked or not!
Also are you experienced at auction, don't get carried away if not and remember the fees!

You cannot check the hood works correctly with the hardtop fitted. However it is a 2 minute job to remove it if you have somebody with you.
If the hardtop has been fitted during the winter months for all or a good portion of the cars life then there is a very good chance that it works fine. When the hardtop is fitted no water or debris can find its way in to the well where the motor is located so it stands a better chance of being in good working condition. I bought my 2003 Zed which has very similar specifications to this one in January 2015 and it has had a hardtop since new. The hood and motor are in superb condition and work fine. Another good reason to have a hardtop on through the winter....don't sell it !
I went to the auctions today, the car (pictured) was mint. A very well looked after one owner car. The best one I've seen.
The action made £6800, which I thought high, plus you have to pay buy premium/fees of £465. Made this 2005 car very expensive.
Shortly afterwords a 2003 3.0 Z4 with 90k miles made £3500, it also had NAV and parking sensors.

This one being one owner would command a premium as well I suppose.
The 03 being a couple of years older would account for a fair chunk of the difference in price.
So much for autos being cheaper!

I went to afew auctions before buying mine.
I was looking at getting a Z4 or a 3 Series. I couldn't quite understand what I was seeing. They were all over priced
Profit margins for the garages cant be big. Either that or theyre bloody good salesmen
