Hi all

Found 2003 roadster for sale 2.5i quite local with 96700 on the clock, engine sounds good with car drives quite well. Little bit of water around the battery well, roof and heated seats all good except they are manual seats not electric. Car has good bodywork, tyres good and has four keys inc plastic one, done complete car check and hpi check, all ok. So all looks good but the v5 is still registered to previous owner and has been for almost a year, seller said he did not know if he wanted to sell or keep that his reason. :(

What you guys think?

It's maybe worth contacting the previous owner just to be sure, but normally if the current owner has had it 12 months I can't see it being stolen, it's pretty bad though he's not registered the car in his own name in that period.

Normally the seller posts off the main part of the form to DVLA with the new owners details on? So hopefully he/she has not received any parking or speeding tickets through the post in the last 12 months!

Hi, the car looks nice and looks to be in good condition, water in the boot can be from a few places and easy to sort. The log books not a big issue as long as it's signed by the original owner. Go and have a look

Definitely worth going to see. Not many decent Zeds north of the border in that price bracket as I'm sure you're aware.

Cheers guys, I will take another look in the daylight this time without the big tourch ha! Get the impression he may of bought with an issue to fix and move on but lots of paperwork and full service history until August last year.
Car sitting on a private plate but he had no clue! The possible dishonesty troubles me a little but car check and HPI check came back clear.
Yep there does not seem too many north of the boarder :(

Previous owner should have send the v5 off. Current owner should only have a slip. Silly from the previous owners point of view.

Manual seat aren't an issue especially if it's only you going to drive it. Saves weight to.

It does have xenons to which are very desirable. Would much rather have those than electri seats.

Seems to have a bit of mould at the top of the windscreen. I would thoroughly check it for water leaks. but it could just be the cars been stood for ages.
DVLA wise in the interim period the previous owner may well have now informed the DVLA the vehicle is sold (in response to tax reminder etc) and possible even given them the details of the new owner to them. However until the DVLA receives a proper application for a V5 (Reg Doc) and the appropriate fee is paid it wont issue a new document.
If the previous owner has told the DVLA they have sold it the reg doc the current owner has is null and void and they wont except a change of owner using it. if he hasn't the it can still be used to change owners, you just need to aware of this though.
Has the current owner never taxed it then? Or if they did they pretend to be the previous owner?

Yes, made the guy an offer on the basis he signed a document comfirming he had not registered vehicle upon purchase and also supply me with personal ID in case there is any legal issues. I posted off v5 transfer whist I was there but all car checks and HPI came back clear so that's some piece of mind, seller said he baught car to fix and sell on for profit but did not want to add another owner to incase it reduced his profit.
Window seal area that looked like mould was some kind of silicone grease from the roof interlock but car sounds good, body work is in great condition except for tiny dent on passenger door.
Alloys look great with no curbing and staggered tyres have plenty of tread, new spring just fitted to front N/S along with shock absorber and top bearing, new water pump Assy & thermostat, new hand break lever assy, driver door issue as you have to lift slightly to open but I need to get a good look at the under side to identify any other issues.

Will post some pictures when it stops bloody raining :x

Both great investments around. £50!

I have something similar to your top cover, picked this up earlier today from a friend and I have ordered the full cover. I don't have any trees that bury my car with leaves :scratchhead: :)
