Hi all, updated now as I have FOUND a cheap, manual E86

Picked up a 56 plate one for just shy of £5k last weekend. Very pleased as it's in good shape and well specced - xenons, cruise, nav, red interior w/ heated seats etc.

Now to get to driving it as much as possible...

I have an 06 2.0i in dark blue with black leather M spec, genuine 59000 miles only problem is it’s cat N ( priced accordingly)
Cheers Keith.

The lad from Leeds coupe was manual and below 5k

Still in the for sale threads?

Yup definitely looking for a coupé. I saw the old thread for the Leeds one and replied on there too asking - no response yet but I have my fingers crossed

That car has been for sale for ages.

I had a mate go and view this car - his feedback was that the suspension needs work. Play in the steering, poor damping etc. Apparently the AC wouldn't blow cold either. Tempted to shoot them a message offering £4k and see what they say as it has been on sale for months and replacing suspension bits shouldn't be too bad

Hi. I'm a new member here and just starting to look for an E86 3.0 manual.

I've seen the Ruby black one has been up for sale for a long time now so guessing it needs a bit of work. Has anyone made a cheeky offer on it?

Welcome to the forum Warren and good luck with your search.

To be fair even a car that has done 80K miles is going to have suspension that is well past its best!

My first Coupe was Ruby Black and it's a fantastic colour in bright sunlight when it is clean - and it was a BMW Individual option.

Thanks mr tidy.. ive been lurking a bit and this forum seems to have alot of helpful people on it.
To be honest tired suspension and a bit scruffy interior doesn't really bother me. It's going to be a car for me to tinker with and drive at the weekends. I'm not looking for a collectors piece.
That particular car seems to have been for sale for a long time and is one of the cheapest around making me thing there is possibly a few more costly problems with it.

You may be right. TBH if I was looking for a cheap higher mileage example I'd look for private adverts as they'll usually be cheaper than trade ones.

Hi Warren - that Ruby Black one in High Wycombe needs some love. Friend of mine checked it out and said there was play in the steering, no A/C, suspension felt totally knackered, and the MOT history isn't that great. Had a good maintenance history up to 2016 and then not much after that. The low upfront cost might be a bit of a red herring, as it would likely need a fair few new parts pretty soon.

There's currently a silver E86 on FB marketplace - 190k miles(!), £4250. I actually enquired about it but at the time someone got there first. Guy messaged me recently saying that fell through and was I interested, but I'd bought a different one a few days before.

MOT history looks quite good, it's well specced with heated M seats, cruise, and nav. Bit of rust/bubbling on the rear arches but doesn't actually look too bad. Probably repairable or you could just stick a new wing on there. From the description, it's had the important stuff like water pump, new shocks etc. Also had an ABS pump refurb and very recent MOT done

It's in North London - maybe take a look? Happy to PM you the listing if you want

Thanks Fab. I think I'll swerve the Ruby black one. Like you say the Mot history isn't the best so i doubt it would have been looked after too well. I've also seen the 190k mile car but that's a bit too high miles for me. 150k is around as high as I want to go. I've seen a car with a decent history for about 6k so planning on taking a look at that when I get time.
