I was reading the other day about Facebook and that its audience was spending shorter time periods on line with it now.
I have a Facebook account and post almost nothing on it, but check in to see whats happening most days. For me Its a useful social tool, i can spark up a chat with colleagues about their holiday or see what an old friend is doing without having to call him up. If your not on it your often in the dark about peoples business, and i find social connectivity in work is a powerful tool.
*So it seems like a lot of people, i use it, but critcally dont really participate in it*
In terms of 'online enjoyment' I much prefer forums. Just the uncluttered abilty to read conversation.
The larger more general forums are difficult as there are a lot of people on them and a lot of space gets dedicated to idiots. And then obviously the idiots being told where to go. Similarly with the comments section of any national newspaper.
But, the smaller forums that i am a member of are so much more interactive than facebook or similar (for me). Topics running pages and pages of well articulated material thats a genuine enjoyment to read and participate in.
Does anonymity provoke more people to talk?? After all i like to keep myself very low key on facebook as it involves the people actually in my life.
I know some of you have met each other, as i have met some other members but do you think forums are a better read simply for the fact people rarely have a real social life with many of the other members?
When (not if) something replaces the giant Facebook what will it be? Something like a forum?
Tell me so i can make loads of money
That tumblr fella seemed to have sold at quite a nice price reading the news today
