Forum User Names

I just got used to my internets name being Aebous. I don't mind being called Matt (my real name) and just recently in the philippines I got used to being called Joe...

I quite often get called Lee, but that's my address. My real name is David :D
When I first joined the forum the first two people's posts I read were Adamski and Ranski. Obviously I thought that maybe I had chosen the wrong name and I should be davidski!

I've been called Scorp since I started biking back in the sixties, so when I've occasionally met up with someone from a forum, it hasn't been a problem to be called by it. I can see that some forum names might sound a bit silly in, what we laughingly call, 'the real world'.
Scorp.

Tell you what is weird, is when you use a stupid name on a forum and then you finally meet another member face to the face for the first time and they feel compelled to say "hi there, captain_panty_hands_69!" in front of your friends and family.

Seriously suspect forums you must frequent

I'd never refer to someone's surname on here even if I knew it, unless it was blatantly obvious from their forum username what it was. I don't see any issue with using a christian name on here, particularly if you've met that person a fair few times.

Just a matter of habit. When I started using the net real names were either rejected or had a stupid string of numbers added to them. So just went fr shortened version of my middle name and added something relevant. So no prizes for guessing where my user name from

Why middle name? Cause most people get it right. First name is Graham and people either misspell it or shorten it (and that grates on me like someone dragging their fingernails across a blackboard! :headbang: )
