Forum T-Shirts: Discussion

It's a nice T-shirt and love the design...

... but realistically I don't think many people would actually wear it. I maybe wrong though? :?

Oh prophet of doom........ and yes I think, as you quite rightly state, you may be wrong...... :poke:

We've had shirts before (made up before the last Homecoming in SC). We coupe owners got left out on that one too. :?

Still have mine. They were nice. Bunch of us wore them at HC 08

I can honestly count on one hand the number of times I've driven my Z4 with the roof down wearing only a T-shirt :(

Wimp :poke: Been out today (and not for the first time since I got back) roof down wearing a T-shirt and jeans, socks shoes and undies before any one else gets clever.

I tend to agree, great idea and I quite like the design but SWMBO would have a field day with it, she already thinks just going on the forum is sad enough (though we all know better).

I would be more tempted by a small subtle logo (don't tend to wear anything with big logo's), but as they say you can't please everyone.

yep, great design but i don't think i would wear 1, especially if i was meeting up with others, all wearing the same could look weird

I like the idea but the logo is a bit to graphicy for my liking..

If it was simplier and more subtle, and something i could wear more often i would get one.. ( think more PH)

Id happily design a forum logo if it was wanted, im a brand guy in my other life.

Hi all,

Sorry for being so slow to reply, only just spotted the thread now.

I have no objection to you guys organising these t-shirts at cost price for forum members, and I like the design a lot. A couple of things though:

1. If you want to use the correct font drop me a PM and I'll send it over, it's a free one

2. I own the rights to the Z4 cartoon in the banner but not any of the other cartoon designs. Please do not use the 2003 model you had in the original design, it is copyrighted (not by me) and you could get us in trouble.

The t-shirts for Homecoming sold really well, so I don't think there should be any problem in sales. The Homecoming ones were sold on the proviso that a small profit would be taken on each one and donated to the forum... this didn't happen, so I would rather these be sold on the proviso that they are pretty much at cost, making sure costs are covered. I don't want people buying again thinking there is some forum tie-in.

koolchris : any help on the design front (not necessarily for the t-shirts) would be greatly appreciated.

Think it's a great idea and I'd be happy to buy one and wear it! I wore a Z4M tee shirt for the National Meet so I'm used to looking a prat :)

Ian - Like the design, but for my £0.02 I'd prefer something with the car more prominant and the forum name featured a little less.

Also, if it's for meets do you want your login or real name - I'll happily call you sk93 to your face if you like!

And finally, the name on the reverse looks cool, but probably adds to the cost - and if it's to help conversation etc. then we will keep having to spin around to see who'se talking to who.

Having said all of that I'd have one in Monaco Blue please - providing it's not a Sterling Grey roadster on the front!

Ok - I have permission pending on the Z4 roadster image - but like a few have pointed out, the site uses the E89 as it's logo - so maybe that's the way forward?

Anyways - to respond to a few questions or points (in no particular order :P):

● I wouldn't be selling these with any mark-up. The price I charge would be the price I buy them at :)

● In regards to a less graphic design - I know what you mean, but the problem we face is that the forum doesn't have a logo that lends itself to being in a less-graphic environment unlike PistonHeads. They're at a great advantage, as the PH logo is "unique" to them, and it's also a monotone image - making it a piss-easy job to create a subtle design that incorporates their branding.
Here we're kinda stuck, as our logo is a Z4 - and in it's very nature, it carry's more brand identification to BMW than to our forum.
To counter that, I believe we need the forum address to be predominant in the design.
But with all that said, I don't claim to know what I'm doing in regards to branding.
I'll see if I can pull a "less graphicy" one out of the bag anyways :)

● I'll have a think and see if I can work out a couple of different designs along the same theme (so we're keeping a "brand"), which may break up the concerns with everyone wearing the same if it's considered a problem big enough to stop people buying?

● Adding an image to the back doesn't increase cost if you look around. Initially I was going to just have a front badge, but as it didn't cost anything extra - I added a back one :)

● I did try the name on the front, but it didn't really work (it looked very much like a "hello my name is..." ).
I had a crafty scout at other forum and group tees, and the popular idea is the name on the back - so I think I'll be sticking with that :P

● I could extend the name on the back to have two lines of text - one for the forum name and one for the real name?

● Size-wise, the handful of places I've short-listed to get these printed have sizes ranging from ladies size 6 to men's XXXL?

● You can call me "Esskay" as much as you like - I've had the "name" for 17 years, so I'm use to it :P
(And it's better than being called Craig or Matt all weekend :poke: )

Yes please - I went through my vast collection and couldn't find the exact one so gave up looking :P

Dont want to upset the applecart or tread on anybodies toes, but have put together a few coffee inspired options too; based on single colour application and an image of a Zed that covers all. Few simple font options too and re: forum logo then maybe its worth investigating the creation of one. 'Z4F' for example?

can the forum username be in a smaller size to the right just underneath the main web address on the front ?

You could have the forum name underneath the main logo and place the username in the black 'numberplate' area of the car image.
