forum probs with mac all of a sudden??

Haven't read any reviews, but both my macs are slower with it (well, they feel slower in opening apps). Ive heard people with newer macs say there is no slowdown, so my thoughts are its slower on older macs, but that just my opinion.

Thinking of putting an SSD in my MBP to see if that helps.

not to upto date with macs and computers in general does my software version seem up to date????

Latest OS is Mavericks, 10.9 and its a free upgrade from your Lion.

I reckon (totally unconfirmed) that older Macs seem slower on Mavericks, but am thinking your 2012 should be ok.
I'm running a late 2010 27" iMac i3
It was fine until I upgraded to Maverick when performance drastically reduced.
After much web searching and questioning it transpires that both Maverick and Chrome are intensely memory hungry.
About a month ago I upped the RAM from 4GB to 12GB (£70 from Crucial) and the improvement has been dramatic to say the least.
Fortunately if was a simple DIY operation for me but with some of the newer models (both iMac and MBP) a memory upgrade has to be a factory job.
Morals of the story:
Increase memory if you can
Use Chrome sparingly - Safari is not that bad
Revert to Mountain Lion - I would have done if the ram upgrade had nor been successful !

Already maxed the RAM on my MBP from 4 to 8GB and it didn't make any difference in general use. I only use Safari.

However, I do very little "real" work on it - mainly just email and browsing, so its not the end of the world, but it is noticably more sluggish.

I initially did an "upgrade" install, so then did a "clean" install, but that didn't help.

Hoping the first update will help - if it is a genuine performance issue, then hopefully they'll work on it.

experiencing another wierd issue today, logged onto my mac as normal and cant use google or youtube..... i get the message WARNING! your flash player may be out of date, please update to continue.?? click the ok and it takes you to an install section that does nothing??? WTF is going on!! getting frustrated now!! anyone experience this?? do i need to update to mavericks??

deleted chrome in the end as it seems to be problematic at the moment!!

going to upgrade to mavericks today and see if i get any benefits!! my mac book just doesn't seem to be running correctly at the moment, deleting chrome has sorted my immediate issues!

I used to get that with Adobe Flash upgrade on my previous Windows PC. You'd click on upgrade and nothing would happen. If you've downloaded Flash on your Mac you ought to get regular updates through the App Store?

I noticed absolutely zero difference from Mountain Lion to Mavericks (OS 10.9.2) performance wise on a mid 2012 MacBook Air (i5 1.7GHz processor, 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD).

thanks for taking the time to type over here!! ok I'm going to take the plunge…. one thing i am doing is using safari and its actually really quite decent, maybe i didn't give it enough time to grow on me but its no-where near as bad as i thought and seems to be running much quicker than chrome!

ok upgrade done..... seems as fast as ever and safari is now much faster on my machine anyway.... so far so good.....

I've not installed Mavericks yet on my 2013 Mac Mini - Mountain Lion OS X 10.8 - and this has happened to me a few times. Downloading the latest version of the flash player from the Adobe website should fix it.

I get frequent automated warnings from Adobe about the need to update to the latest version of their flash player, which they seem to update more often than a Z4M needs petrol. Rightly or wrongly I usually ignore them, but there seems to come a point when the version of the flash player on my computer becomes so out of date that videos on YouTube and the BBC iPlayer won't run, at which point I update it from the Adobe website.

The same thing also happens with my 2010 MB Pro - Snow Leopard OS X 10.6.8 - I've pretty much stuck with Safari on both Macs - seems ok to me. Hope you soon get yours to run how you want it to.
