Hello Everyone,
I’m a newby to this forum but not so much a newby to the nuisances that plague the E85 Z4s. I get the pleasure of working on my moms 2008 Z4 whenever something breaks!
So far I have done the starter, about 5 convertible top motor replacements, and just recently fixed her Nav screen that had a broken housing and wasn’t flipping up.
The latter is actually the main reason I am hopping on here. I did a somewhat quick search on all the forums and did not find a way to fix a broken housing for the Navigation screen on these Z4s. It just doesn’t seem right to have to pay $800+ to fix these screens so I decided I would at least open the thing up and see what I could do. I don’t want to get too many hopes up, but I was able to implement a fix for the cracked housing, which was cracked where the stepper motor inputs into the screen housing. This was completed tonight, so I only have about 5 cycles on the fix. Only time will tell if it will hold.
I reckon I should do a separate post for the fix (I took a few pictures), but I just wanted to give an intro first.
Anyways, if there are any immediate questions I can answer them here, until I make the other post.
