Hi Everybody!

Had my gorgeous sapphire black with red leather interior Z4 a while now but only just come across this site which looks wicked! I have so many questions I was wondering if anybody could help...sorry if they've all been covered a hundred times already!

When I clean my car I use BMW roof cleaner but was wondering if there was a commercial brand people favour instead, and also if there is a dye blackener product to darken the roof a little, I'm begining to see more and more stretch marks which I'd like to hide!

Because I use my Zed for every day use I'm also starting to see more and more chip marks ...mainly on the bonnet and was wondering what is the best to get rid of these? Polishing, chip paint?

I use a BMW cream to polish my car after washing which brings out a beautiful shine but I've heard I should really be aplying a wax afterwards, is this true? If so what advice would you have on a wax brand?

Anybody live around the Newbury, Berkshire area and know of an alloy wheel re-furb compay of good repute and reasonable price? My alloys were never in perfect condition when I bought the car and have started to look the worst part of the car...shame so I want to bring them back to lfe, can anybody help?

I'm due a full service shortly and have heard that the Hungerford dealers give goodcustomer service, can anyone confirm this as I don't want to go to the Reading dealers as I've heard many negative reviews on them.

Final question...for the time being! I've seen the forum on Facebook as well and pictures of a Z4 convoy/cruise in August of last year (I think), Is there one lined up for this year or have I missed it? Would love to attend if it's reasonably close!

Many Thanks for any help and advice,

Cheers all,

Welcome to the forum, but may I suggest you:
1) introduce yourself and get some photos up
2) run some searches as everything you ask has been covered many times
3) post questions individually and in the right section

Quick response to one point. The last cruise was 5th Spetember, so just missed it but a crowd of us are going to Santa Pod this Sunday.

Hi fella. I'm not too far down the M4 (near the Madjeski Stadium) so keep an eye out for my if you're in the area. Also if you ever want to go for a blast just drop me a PM as I'm always up for it!

Roof cleaner: Don't really know as I just snow foam mine and rinse thoroughly during my normal wash process. Be sure if you do use a dye to tape up the surrounding areas as the run off can be pretty nasty if you're not careful. Take a search through the detailing forum here as I'm sure this has been covered many times!

Chips: Welcome to the world of BMW's stupid white primer. Chips show up really bad. One thing to do is just try to prevent them by not tailgating on the motorway. You can use polishes with fillers I believe which will tone them down but not rid them fully. I went for a front respray on my old Z as I was so particular about this.

Polishes and Wax: I had sapphire black and found after a foam, wash, clay that poorboys world blackhole was awesome for filling in swirls and after that I apply a quality wax. My personal preference after trying a few and hearing recommendations here was victoria's concours wax which you apply by hand. Very satisfying applying it and gives an excellent finish but only on paint that has been prep'd fully. You might be better going through the detailing forum again just to have a read up on this. You definitely should always ensure you have a reasonable coating of wax though so do this sooner rather than later.

Refurbs: Chipsaway in Reading can sort out refurbs for a reasonable price. I've seen their work and it is first rate. Otherwise if you're willing to spend a little more for the ultimate finish Lepsons are widely regarding as the best of the bunch. Although they're a little far away...

Cruises & Meets: There are always plenty going on and there is another sub-forum here for meets. A few of us are going to the BMW show this weekend at Santa Pod if you fancy one that soon! You could always meet up with us off the M4 and convoy up if you fancied it. Otherwise local to us there is a meet next Sunday which covers the Hampshire/Surrey area and I'll be attending that one along with a good few other Z's and marques as it is also being pimped on the pistonheads forum.

By the way welcome to the forum, and you now have two important things to do:

1. Get a stubby!
2. Pictures of your Z!

Thanks for the great info guys, I'll upload some pictures tonight after work using my dropbox account and will also introduce myself in the Newbies forum...should have done that first!

Reckon I could be spending a lot of time on here...my wifes going to hate it....and probably my bank account!!

Thanks for the welcome guys...looking forward to a lot of fun on here!

Playalistic, think the SantaPod meet might be a little too soon as I already have plans for this weekend, the Hampshire/Surrey meet sounds interesting, I'll look it up on the Pistonheads forum...thanks for the heads up.

welcome along, Ive used the autoglym kit, and currently trying the turtle wax one... both seem good but the turtle wax cleaner seems to do a better job.
