Forum Calendar

i have had a car calendar every year and now im out off all my other clubs i will need one for next year :( so i hope they are doing one as i would buy one :)
 
I've loved both my calendars :thumbsup:

Problem is, someone has to volunteer to do it - inkey$ did the first one, Ste did this year's. It's quite involved so requires some serious effort :

- gauging interest & getting commitment
- setting up a thread for photo submissions
- voting, deciding any ties (the organiser & mods do this)
- collecting hi-res pics from the chosen few
- design, formatting & printing - probably shelling out for the latter prior to having all the cash...
- collecting money from people, chasing those that haven't paid, getting addresses
- posting them all out in time for Christmas

It's quite an involved process, and tbh I think we may be short on time now - pretty sure we've started all this in October the last 2 years. I can understand nobody wanting to stick their hand up... But it will leave a big hole on my office wall when this year's is taken down :(
 
Yeah, it would've been well under way by now if we were having one.

We'll just have to print new bottom parts (not in a rude bottom part way) for this years calendar and stick them over the top and re-cycle. :thumbsup:
 
I think you've left it at least 2 months too late to be thinking about a 2014 calender.

Given Xmas is in a month there's simply no time to do all that Bing lists above.
 
Surely the monthly competition winners would be more than good enough for the photos - if we look at the gallery the first half of the year is pretty much sorted.
 
Just having a look back the original thread for last year (announcing it and getting commitment) was started on Nov 4th. Calendars started dropping through doors on the 18th December. Given we're more than two weeks later this year I don't think it's possible.

Last year there was a big debate about which photos should be in it, and some felt it should be the monthly competition winners, which would make it easy... But we don't have November or December yet, and IIRC the we agreed idea was to try and inspire people who rarely submitted photos for the competition to take a great photo... Also, using competition winners would result in us having the same car on more than one month because of the ace photographers on here.

The only fast way to do it would be to take 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for each month so far - that would give us a pool of 30 to vote on. You could increase the pool by finishing this month's competition early and having a shorter voting period. Still, lots of effort required, and a danger that you'd have repeated cars.
 
We would need someone to do it first off.

We voted on pics last year so that would probably be best way again given what you said J, there would be a repeat of cars otherwise.

It wouldn't matter perhaps if the calendars arrived a couple of weeks into January?
 
Its a bit late…? By the time you get the vote get it designed and sent to print… be an effort for who ever sorts it.

Tom, we all know you're a genius with a camera and a design hero - you do this sort of thing all the time surely, how hard can it be to slap it together in a few evenings ? :rofl:
 
I do work for a print company but even so, its Christmas and work is mental at the mo with Christmas advertising, supplements and everything else that comes with. Been here 9am-11pm most nights for the last 2 weeks. Not much of a life.

As much as I would love to I don't have the time :(
