Formula one..? Not any more.

We should go back to the V8 or V10 cars :)

F1 is motorsport, which is meant to be all about pushing boundaries, racing, bigger, better, faster, stronger, cooler, louder etc etc... 1.6l engines? Doesn't really resonate correctly.

Granted various race series race within their set of parameters, but F1 is meant to be the epitome of what is possible, where crazy things should happen because it's 'what is humanly possible to acheive', rather than racing around with a pimped up Fiesta engine :/

There are power (650bhp iirc) & torque limits in place so they'll be chasing fuel economy & power band width. I've seen reports of >800bhp been produced when these limits are removed.

Last time I went, F1 was still at painfully loud, so had very low expectations. Maybe because of that I found the noise ok and the race itself was brilliant. The cars are still crazily fast and you can only really appreciate that when you are there - it's the changes of direction that completely blow your mind. The apex of Maggots must be one the best places in the world to watch F1 cars.

6 hrs of Silverstone was good this year too. Lots of overtakes and some great noises (Corvette and Aston V8s in particular).

Wait 'til we get electric cars racing and that's not too far in the future, watching the noiseless Zero bikes at the TT is just plain weird! F! lost the plot for me years ago, I watch the occasional race but find I'm usually asleep by lap 10. I follow MotoGP these days - now that's racing! :)

Formula E is fast, but a long way off the spectacle that F1 is. I watched the race in Battersea Park on TV, wasn't bad.. but it's not quite as fine tuned or exclusively awesome. Though it's early days, and if it continues to grow.. F1 should be worried, as there won't be any ridiculous limits on a new series that might hamper its growth.

Doesnt F1 need to be a spectacle to draw the crowds ?

Sights, sounds and smells all included ? I see that they dropped the price of F1 tickets at the British because they didnt sell..

I fear F1 is going the same way as Rallying,as soon as rules and regs started making things less interesting the fans left in droves. What was once the biggest motorsport event by far (spectator wise) is now a shadow of its former self...

Why...IMHO the cars are boring and the prices are ridiculous to get onto stage...

Both sports need a shake up... Better management and lower entrance prices. Get the public interested again and not cost restrictive to take the family....

OK ..
I gotta comment !
Can Am Racing in the 70's was the greatest series ever !
Group 7 Unlimited !
You want sound ?
Well what about earth shaking.
I'm serious, the first car I felt before I saw it.
The earth and air shook.
I ran to see what was making this elixir.
